Releasing through the body

TRE® — Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises

A gentle, body-based practice that uses the nervous system's own tremor mechanism to release stored tension and settle chronic stress.

Book This SessionSessions are offered virtually and in person at 1371 Hancock Lone Palm Rd.

The approach

What it is

TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a series of simple movements that safely activate the body's natural tremor mechanism — the same shaking you see in animals after a stressful moment. This tremoring helps the nervous system discharge stored tension it never had the chance to release.

The practice is self-regulating: your body decides how much to release, and you learn to slow down or stop at any time.

The experience

What a session involves

  • A short conversation about how your body has been carrying stress.
  • Guidance through the gentle warm-up exercises that invite the tremor response.
  • A supported tremoring period while you rest comfortably, with me alongside to help you regulate the pace.
  • Time to rest, integrate, and notice what has shifted.

Where it helps

What it may support

  • Releasing chronic muscular tension and tightness
  • Settling an overactive stress response
  • Feeling more at home and at ease in your body
  • Complementing talk-based work with a body-based pathway

TRE® works bottom-up: instead of understanding your stress, you give your body a direct way to complete and release it — often without needing to talk about the story at all.

Good to know

Safety & care

  • TRE® is a self-help, personal-development practice and is not a medical or psychiatric treatment.
  • If you are pregnant, have a recent injury or surgery, or live with a serious medical condition, please mention it before we begin so exercises can be adapted.
  • You are always in charge of the intensity — tremoring can be slowed or stopped at any moment.

Questions

Frequently asked

Will the shaking feel out of control?
No. The tremor is gentle and self-regulating, and you learn from the first session how to dial it up, down, or off.
Do I have to talk about difficult experiences?
No. TRE® works through the body; nothing needs to be retold for the release to happen.
Can I practice at home afterward?
Yes — once you are comfortable self-regulating, TRE® becomes a practice you can use on your own between sessions.

Ready when you are.

Sessions are booked through Dr. Verena's calendar. Mention the approach you're drawn to in the booking notes so your session is prepared around it.
